Comments?

I like getting comments on this blog, and I always try to respond to the comments I get.

I also like leaving comments on other people's blogs, and they usually reply to me, which is cool.

So, here's the thing - I use an RSS feed to keep track of several blogs. It's a handy, automated way to stay on top of lots of bloggers. But I don't have a good way to keep track of which blogs I left comments on. So I am forced to rely on my memory (yikes!) as to which blogs I need to revisit, to check and see if my comment got a reply.

I know some blogs let you check a box that says "email me about subsequent responses," but many of those blogs get LOTS of comments, and I don't necessarily need to fill up my email box with all of those. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Well, probably not the answer you are looking for, but - if it is discussion you want, then blogs aren't really the best tool. By their nature, blogs are mostly one-sided. For more dialog, I think a discussion forum/board is a better fit.

I know what you mean lol! I enjoy the interaction on my blog and others blogs.
Sometimes I just hope someone clicks on my name in the comments so I can see the blog on my sitemeter.

I wish I had an answer, but I pretty much just have the same question!

Don't know much about it (haven't tried it), but disqus.com might be what you are looking for...?

Most blogs (including yours) have an RSS feed for the comments on a post. You could easily subscribe to the comments feed whenever you post to an entry and stick the subscription in a (group/folder/collection/whatever your reader calls it) called "threads I've posted to". When they get old, delete the subscription. Your news reader will collect lots of comments you're not interested in but at least they won't fill your email inbox. Depending on your setup, subscribing to the comment feed should be a click & drag operation that takes very little effort.

I use this method for a few comment threads I care about.

Thanks everyone - and good call on using an RSS feed, Rhet! I might have to try that.
