Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial is one of my favorite spots on the National Mall. I took this shot when I had a little free time in the afternoon durning a recent trip to DC (not the house-hunting trip - we didn't have much free time then).

I just got back from a couple of days in DC. I think I walked about 14 hours total in the two days I was there. I LOVE the metro, so simple to use.
Are you going to commute in on the metro and get somewhere near the metro?

Isn't DC great? It looks like the best commuting option for me is the Metrobus, although I'm sure I'll be on the metro rail often enough.

I'm also going to give slugging a try. Should be interesting!

What's slugging? I can't wait to come and visit you guys! Maybe we'll have to try and go down in the fall.

Slugging is sort of a stylized form of hitch hiking. There are specific locations where "slug lines" form, and drivers swing by and pick them up in order to qualify to drive in the faster HOV lane. Same thing on the way home.

Apparently the Pentagon is one of the main slugging destinations...
