DaNoWriMo, Day 1

Yesterday I began writing The Boomer Sisters And The Pirates, or as I affectionately refer to it, B4 (for Book 4).

These books tend to be right around 15 chapters, so to write one in 30 (31?) days, I need to average 1/2 a chapter each day. I managed to get a little more than 1/2 a chapter done, so already, I'm ahead of the game. In fact, I almost finished the chapter - and would have finished it too, if I didn't run out of time and had to go to class.

Starting out a little bit ahead is good, because at some point in July, I will drop behind. But for now, I am a little bit ahead.

Yay!

Good luck on the DaNoWriMo and thesis writing. I had a hard enough time getting my thesis done without worrying about a novel too! Since you're into the whole web 2.0/distributist/new media thing, why don't you consider writing publicly....post your daily scribing to a wiki and let your fans become your editors/agents.

That's a good question / suggestion / challenge. I'm not sure if I have the guts to throw my raw first drafts out to the public!

Fortunately for my lack of courage, I have a good excuse for not doing it (yet, at least). So far, I'm doing all my writing in a spiral notebook.

I guess I could set up a live webcam pointed at the notebook, and occasionally flip the page...

But yeah, once I start actually typing it up, I just might post it somewhere and see if I can get some free editing & agenting.
