I stopped by the military clothing sales picked up a couple sets of my new Master Space Badge, complete with star and wreath (pictured above).
I also picked up... some silver oak leaves. I won't actually be able to wear them until 1 Nov, but I figured that's not too far away. It felt very strange to buy them. I'm sure it'll feel even weirder to put them on. Whew!

ohhhh, what a fun Field Trip for you, and great memories! Did it seem rather surreal seeing our old house? I think they have done some major renovating since our days there. CONGRATS on buying the silver oak leaves, they'll be on your uniform so soon! Enjoy the rest of the time there in beautiful Colorado. I can picture it all so clearly. Hey have you bumped into Tom McLaughlin? They're still there.
Cool! Will we get pics?
I haven't seen Tom yet - will have to see if I can track him down.
I took some pictures of our old house & will send or post soonish...
My former husband taught engineering at the AF Academy (before he and I hooked up and subsequently unhooked). He loved it, not least because he said the air is so wonderful in Colorado Springs that you get out of bed in the morning already invigorated.
First the silver oak leaves, next the birdie, and then per ardua ad astra (as they say in the AF where I come from).
How proud you'll feel to pin those oak leaves on!! :) I can't wait to post some pictures of that!! :)
Congrats again, Dan. Enjoy your stay in Colorado. My son lives due east of the Academy (on the other side of I-25) and is with Oracle, which can be seen from his back deck - which also commands a great view of the Academy and the Rampart Range.
Hi Dan: loved reading your comments about the 'Springs' ,camp USAFA, and it brought back memories of our 4 wonderful years there as a family.... enjoy your time there...AF plays their first home football game this saturday afternoon.... if you can, send me just the sports section of the 'Gazette' newspaper on sunday, if you can. Thanks, Dad
